PVC tape, or more commonly insulating tape, is most commonly seen as a quick and easy method of securing socks and shin guards in football.
In rugby, players often use it to give extra security to elastic adhesive bandages (EAB) or cohesive tapes which are wrapped around the head to protect the ears while scrummaging; or just to provide an extra level of adhesive protection to a taping procedure. Simply tape over the applied EAB with insulating tape and it will help keep it in place.
